Jackie + Matt | The Barn at Villa Venezia, Middletown, NY
Some weddings follow a script. Jackie and Matt’s rewrote it entirely.
Set against the rustic elegance of The Barn at Villa Venezia, their September wedding felt less like a formal event and more like a deeply personal gathering—one that reflected exactly who they are and how they love: intentionally, warmly, and without unnecessary tradition.
From the very beginning, Jackie and Matt made a decision that shaped the entire day—they would do things their way. No bridal party. No rigid timeline packed with expectations. Instead, they chose presence over performance, connection over convention.
We began the day with Jackie getting into her dress with her mom and then sharing a first look with her dad. The presence and love of their family was a reoccurring theme that filled the day with joy!
Jackie and Matt shared a private first look followed by an intimate sharing of their vows. Truly one of my favorite elements in a wedding day… it reinstills that the true meaning of a wedding day is love between two souls coming together.
The ceremony itself was beautifully intimate and lead by their parents and family. Surrounded only by their closest circle, Jackie and Matt promised forever in a setting that felt quiet, meaningful, and completely grounded. Without the structure of a large procession or formal staging, every moment felt closer, more human. Guests weren’t just witnesses, they were part of something deeply personal.
And then, as the ceremony ended, the day unfolded into something entirely different.
Rather than moving straight into a traditional reception, Jackie and Matt hosted a champagne hour - an intentional pause between events. Glasses clinked, laughter carried, and the energy slowly expanded as more of their favorite people arrived. It was the perfect transition: from intimate to electric, from quiet to celebratory!
By the time the full party began, the atmosphere had transformed. What started as a small, heartfelt ceremony grew into a vibrant celebration filled with energy, movement, and joy. Without the constraints of formal entrances or structured traditions, the night flowed naturally. People mingled freely, danced when they felt like it, and connected in a way that felt effortless.
There was something refreshing about the absence of expectation. No bouquet toss. No staged moments. Just a room full of people who mattered, celebrating a couple who chose authenticity over obligation.
And that’s what made Jackie and Matt’s wedding so memorable, it wasn’t about reinventing weddings for the sake of being different. It was about stripping the day down to what actually mattered and building it back up with intention and making it meaningful and fun!
